HOODLAND PARK MASTER PLAN

CONSTRUCTION COST ESTIMATES

The cost for the park can vary widely depending on the park program, level of design complexity, size of park, accessibility for contractors, and demand within the construction market. In this design concept, some significant cost drivers would be site excavation and grading, the pavilion, and the skate park.  The conceptual nature of the plan necessitates a high contingency and a wide range for potential cost. Using a comparative analysis, the park design could cost between $3 million and $5 million in today’s construction market.

The Hoodland Park District would be funded with property tax dollars from residents within the park district and with grant money. The park's board would be made up of locally elected members. The current estimated tax rate would be between $0.49 and $0.54/1000. For a $300,000 home, this would translate to a tax increase of $147.00 to $162.00 per year.

The formation of a Hoodland Park District will require an initial expenditure of considerable time and money. The Hoodland Women's Club is willing to move this effort forward, however, they would like to ensure that the plan will be supported by local residents. Please provide your valuable input on whether or not you would vote for the needed tax increase for this project:
